Natural Linen Monogram

This simple French monogram is from a booklet called ABC aux Ancolies.  The booklet is made up of clear patterns/charts that are easy to stitch. It's from a French company called Rouge du Rhin. Click here to go to their website and purchase it. They ship to the USA. There are many wonderful cross stitch charts and kits created by this company.

I love stitching monograms. They're timeless and elegant. This one is stitched with Splendor white silk floss on natural 32-count linen, creating a peaceful look. To give it some pizazz, I added a few pearl beads in the center of the flower. I use my favorite French tapestry needles made by Bohin (size 24) to stitch most of my projects.

As I write this post, a French apple cake is baking in my oven. It's a Dorie Greenspan recipe that I tweaked just a  wee bit. It's my go-to apple cake. My tiny apartment smells like a mix of vanilla-sugar and warm cider. Last night, I made roast chicken with wild rice pilaf.  I've been taking walks with my pooch, wearing my knitted mittens and hat. The kettle is frequently heated for peppermint tea. The candles are lit early. These are cozy signs that the winter season is fast approaching us here in New England.

Happy Stitching!

xx ~ Jilly
