Rose Monogram Cross Stitch Pattern

Painting By William Paxton

My tiny home is accented with a medley of fresh roses and cross stitched ones. I love peaceful, neutral-rooms with bright pops of color. I love seashells and embroideries. Anything made by hand infuses charm and personality to a room. Try it, you'll see.

You may stitch all the hearts on the pattern, adding an optional charm. For a clean and sophisticated look, leave them out. The pattern is very versatile to suite your personal taste.

This classic monogram is at home in a traditional home or a quaint cottage. You can stitch it in pink and green silk (shown in the photographs) or your favorite colors. Work it in all one color if that's what you prefer. Red floss on white linen will give it a Scandinavian or Swedish look.

I know some of you have been waiting for this design. Thank you very much for your patience!

As a side note, my Pink Ombre Hearts pattern was featured in the Valentine's issue of Homespun Magazine. If you're new to cross stitching or you want to stitch something for your sweetheart, click here for the tutorial and free pattern.

This pretty monogram of roses and hearts comes with a complete alphabet. There is also a bonus chart with a petite rose in the center. You get three charts for the price of one!

Sparkly Butterfly Pattern

Tom has been joining Ellie and I on our usual long walks by rivers and oceans. We catch glimpses of bright white migrating birds against the low winter sun. These quiet days are so nice.  I've been making lots of soups for our lunches too. My healthy Asian Noodle Soup and my Reboot Soup are easy and delicious. We have crisp white wine with creamy brie & crackers for an evening snack. Cozy meals make us feel more content during the frosty New England months. Other pursuits of contentment involve soft blankets, binge watching GIRLS and stitching small projects. I love to embroider in wintertime, don't you?

French Rose Pattern

Late afternoons are spent walking my beagle on the Charles River path in the crisp New England air. Cozy nights are spent under soft quilts, stitching pretty things. Evening comes early.  Candles are lit. Twinkle lights are strung and the kettle is heated for peppermint tea. Life is simple this Christmas season and it feels good.

This delicate French rose cross stitching project is charming and quick. It's a good introduction to counted cross stitch because it uses only two colors. Frame it in a hoop and hang it on a wall as a pretty piece of art. It makes a sweet ornament or handmade gift. It's a fun Valentine's Day project too.

For this project I used Needlepoint Inc Chinese silk thread. It's has a beautiful shine. I once had the pleasure of visiting the San Francisco shop, located on Union Square. All those gorgeous threads in one place, I was in heaven. But you can swap the Chinese silk floss for red and green DMC floss. Alternately, the rose can be stitched in your favorite colors. Make a pink rose or a lavender one if that's what you prefer.  I suggest stitching it while a good movie is playing on TV. Have fun and make this project your own. It's my present to you. I wish every one of you a peaceful, joyous and blessed Christmas!

DIY Organic Clay Bowls

These organic bowls are modern pieces of art that even kids can make. They can stand alone or be put to use as pretty ring/jewelry or key bowls. They make trendy tealight candle holders too. Simply made from air dry clay and glitter paint, the black ones remind me of lava rocks or druzy stones. I had lots of fun making them. Martha Stewart's Glitter paint gives their insides lots of bling. I'ts my philosophy that a little bling is never a bad thing. Martha's glitter paint comes in different colors from pink to turquiose too. You can customize this project to your taste. For example, if you paint the outside white and the inside turquoise or pink, it will create a beachy feel. Make the bowls as large or small as you'd like. Several large and small ones, grouped together on a table, look sophisticated and dramatic. Have fun!

Pink Ombre Hearts Freebie & Tutorial

Learning to cross stitch isn't as hard as you may think. If I can do it, so can you! It helps to have a simple pattern to get you started. Pretty pink ombre hearts are an easy place to start.

Winter is the perfect time to begin a new indoor hobby. Cross stitching is a cure for cabin fever. Needlework has been proven to calm frazzled nerves. It makes me feel more relaxed. I enjoy stitching under quilts with a good movie or my favorite TV shows playing in the background.

It might be nice to give your favorite hobbyist a Christmas gift of thread, a hoop, a needle and this ombre hearts pattern. Valentine's Day is right around the corner too.

DIY Sparkly Sweethearts

Today, I'm having fun with Martha Stewart's Glitter Paint again, making these sweet clay hearts. Placed in a bowl, they add instant bling to a room. They can also be turned into pretty magnets for displaying a favorite photo or artwork on your fridge. Turn them into ornaments or gift tags by punching a hole in in them with the end of a pen while the clay is still wet. Make this your own project by using different shapes to cut the clay. It's an easy project for kids. They can select shapes such as flowers and butterflies and paint them in a variety of colors. Craft something beautiful today!

Glitter Heart Ring Bowls

Glittery bowls are pretty pieces of handmade art. They make lovely little ring bowls too. A bit of bling is always a good thing. They're made with simple air dry clay and paint. It's fun! I'll show you how to craft something beautiful today!

DIY Vintage Pinkeep

I found a little, funky vintage bowl in an antique store for a few dollars. I was using it as a place to keep my rings/jewelry/keys. Then I came across Miranda Walker's great idea to use a teacup saucer as a pin holder. I thought my bowl would make a perfect pin keep. I love anything retro.

If you find you've stumbled upon a fun bowl on your next thrifting adventure, why not try this? It's easy! It's a great gift for a sewing enthusiast, a cross stitcher or a quilter, along with some supplies and a favorite pattern.
